Browsing Kijiji, because some time you just want to see what the Canadian used market has to offer, and found a 13b powered AE86 race car... So much yes, and so much no.

It’s in Canadian pesos, so that’s only like $50. NP

There’s also this ‘92 Honda Beat with 96k km for $3,800USD.
I want it.

I want it more.

And where are the affordable Supras, Tom asks?
Apparently in Canada:

Sure it’s a base non-turbo, but a clean and running MKIV car with a manual for under $15k USD is far better than you’re going to find in the U.S.

Fuck, I should really be saving my relocation bonus for moving to a new apartment in June, but I think that a Beat would make living in my shithole for another year worth it.

Not importable though. Time to move to Canadia before The Donald builds that wall.

DOOO IT!
Also, let me come drive it if you do. haha

How many rust-prone MR sports cars do I need in a city where I really have no need to ever drive? ALL THE MR SPORTS CARS!

You could try to import it under the Show or Display exemption, and then make it street legal when the time comes.

I’m curious about if the “similar model” exemption would work since they sold it here til 98.

This is the best situation in which to own these cars! Since you don’t need to drive them, you can keep them tucked away during the cold-snowy-salty months to preserve them, therefore giving them unicorn status in the area!

But that means I’ll have to pay to park them inside. In New York. Might be able to just carry the beat up to my spare bedroom and leave it there though. Other rust-prone MR car’s already rusted to shit and needs a new shell.

Keeping a Beat stored in your apartment through sounds like the greatest idea ever.

2017 is almost here, you could make that happen.

$3,800 is a lot of wedding money though... so I’m afraid awesome Kei car purchases will have to wait a few years.

I get why people love RX-7's, but the reality is rotary engines are the proverbial good idea that doesn’t really work. I cannot wrap my head around swapping a rotary into something that didn’t come with one.

Agreed. I’d rather have an AE86 with a well-built 4AGE in it.

Been there. The wedding and the house are why I never got around to putting suspension parts on the ‘74 Buick Apollo I had before the Roadmaster. Good news though, it never ends :)

I don’t know my Japanese engine codes, but I still agree completely.

Jdm Supras are much cheaper, the majority that you see running around are rhd. Many cdm Supras have been poached by the us market :( due to the strong dollar

4AGE is so good idk why anyone would want to swap it. You can even do a decent turbo build with it.
Some people are just obsessed with dyno queens so they want a 500hp ae86 which i would never want to drive

The only AE86 swap I’d want, apart from a well built NA 4AGE, is a K-series swap.

That would work. 3SGE BEAMS swap would be nice as well if you want/need to stay Toyota for let’s say autocross or some other kind of motorsport.
